A spectator's ring is locked onto a padlock, which is covered by a handkerchief. You remove (or otherwise introduce) "your" wedding-band style ring (supplied), then suddenly, you're holding the spectator's ring and your ring is locked to the padlock. You give the spectator the combination to open the lock and remove your ring, and everything can be examined!
